15th - 17th of October 2021

The 2021 VJMC Suzuki National Rally was scheduled for 15th - 17th of October 2021 in Bendigo, Victoria. Unfortunately, COVID-19 interfered and the rally was delayed until 25th - 27th March 2022. In the meantime, many Queensland VJMC members attended a local event organised by Phil Heggie.

Well the Monto Muster was a huge success. People started arriving after lunch Friday ready for the meet and greet Friday night. There were over 60 at the Albert Hotel for dinner and everybody had a great time. The first 10 questions for the trivia quiz were read out but proved too hard for most of us even though they were all motorcycle related.

Saturday morning saw all the bikes lined up in the main street for a very interesting display. VJMC members and the public had the chance to vote for Best Bike. About 10.00am we all headed off for the first ride to Cania Dam. The dam level was well down but it was a really good ride over a reasonably quiet road. All returned to Monto for lunch after which we set off on the second ride to Kalpower. Kalpower was once a busy little town servicing the timber industry but is now almost a ghost town. You can buy a block of land for $5000 if you like. The road in was all twists and turns and very enjoyable. On returning to Monto some stopped off at the small pub at Mungungo but we thought a cool dip in the parks pool was a better option.

Saturday nights dinner was again at the Albert Hotel with another 60 plus people there. The final 10 trivia questions were given and we were able to get most of these right. First prize of $500 of powder coating from Precision Powder Coating was won by Mark Clark from the Sunshine Coast while Frank Teske won second prize of a tyre voucher kindly donated by Phil at Norside Motorcycles. Peoples Choice from this morning's show was also announced with Ash and Lynn Taylor winning a $100 fuel voucher donated by the VJMC for their Kwaka 900. Well done. All the other donated merchandise was given out with a rolling raffle which was a bit of fun. Some of our members came away with some good items which was only fitting as the Mackay dealers provided many of the prizes.

Sunday saw us all leave Monto around 8.30 for a ride to My Perry. What a ride that was, some of the best biking roads I have been on for a while. Covered around 270klms for the day with nice sweeping bends and a good surface, loved it. Some headed home from My Perry but quite a few, including most of the Mackay lot headed back to Monto for dinner at the Albert again and an early night ready to head home Monday.

We had a good ride home [to Mackay] managing to dodge a couple of storms but John and Larry weren't so lucky, getting pummelled by two storms. All home safely except for Pat and Frank who are still tripping around somewhere. Great weekend which we are hoping to make an annual event.
