The VJMC is a worldwide club with 4 separate branches in North America, the UK, Australia and New Zealand that keep in contact by exchanging newsletters.
Some enthusiasts are members of more than one branch of the VJMC. This website provides information on our club and provides access to club portal for our members.
Objective - To foster the preservation, restoration, riding and enjoyment of ownership of Japanese motorcycles more than 15 years old.
The Australian branch is a non-profit community association operated by a committee of volunteers in an informal and friendly manner. The VJMC is now incorporated in NSW
The work of operating the VJMC Australian branch is carried out by unpaid volunteers under the auspices of the VJMC - Australian National Committee, currently located in the Hunter Valley, NSW.
All VJMC Clubs have the common aims of fostering the restoration and riding of older model Japanese Motorcycles. The Clubs keep in contact by exchanging Newsletters and other means to keep informed about activities in other countries. Membership of more than one VJMC Club is not uncommon
VJMC - Australian Branch
The Australian Branch was set up as a register to give riders, restorers and enthusiasts of early Japanese motorcycles a focal point, without cutting accross the activities of the established Classic and Vintage Clubs. There is no requirement of machine ownership to become a members.
The Branch was set up in 1983 with the following aims:-
Promote the restoration and use of Japanese motorcycles that are more then fifteen (15) years old or are of marques no longer in production.
Provide a central clearing house for information regarding technical data and spares available and pass this information to members.
Liaise with the overseas branches and with similar clubs in Australia and New Zealand to exchange information and ideas.
To track down supplies of spares and use the power of membership numbers to gain discounts or beneficial services to members
To produce a Quarterly Newsletter in which all members can place advertisements or articles without charge.
To foster a club-like atmosphere which will enable us to organise future events such as rallies, and to gain sufficient members to enable area meetings and social events to be arranged.
Today, the Australian Branch of the VJMC still operates as a Register. This allows it to cater for a very widespread membership. It is now an incorporated association and has a constitution and is still developing a new edition of the Members Handbook. The main activities are the production of a Newsletter and its distribution to financial members, organisation of an annual Rally/AGM, representation at SWAP Meets and display opportunities, and putting members in contact with one another who have given permission. A shared Technical Information and Library service is also available for members. The VJMC - Australia has over 300 members in all states.
Regional representatives act as contact points for members in their regions.
